K-12 Alliance of Michigan Responds to Governor Whitmer's Executive Budget Recommendations

The K-12 Alliance of Michigan responds to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s proposed budget, which includes increasing the state’s per-pupil foundation allowance to $10,000, marking a key milestone in school funding. The budget also outlines additional investments aimed at supporting student success, addressing operational costs and enhancing resources for districts statewide.

"We appreciate Governor Whitmer putting a budget on the table that acknowledges the need to further invest in Michigan's schools," said Robert McCann, executive director of the K-12 Alliance of Michigan. "Reaching $10,000 per pupil in funding is an important milestone as the costs our schools face continue to grow further. We look forward to working with her and legislative leadership to get a budget done on time that truly supports the success of each and every student in our schools."

The K-12 Alliance will continue to review the proposed budget and engage with policymakers to ensure Michigan’s schools receive the necessary resources to meet the needs of students, educators, and communities.
